The platform supports compressed and uncompressed formats, including MPEG TS,JPEG- XS, CDI, NDI, JPEG2000, SMPTE 2110, SMPTE 2022-6/7, MPEG-DASH and HLS. TAG's solutions run on standard Commercial Off-The-Shelf hardware (COTS) and cloud, providing state-of-the-art IP monitoring and analysis tools with the highest quality UHD Multiviewer on standard and mobile device displays.

Product Description

TAG’s Media Control System (MCS) is the newest layer in the Company’s Realtime Media Platform (RMP), a unique multi-level, groundbreaking, open-source paradigm that monitors, aggregates, manages and utilizes data-driven viewer analytics to provide users with the insight required to build performant linear media systems via cloud.

Sitting at the foundation of the RMP is TAG’s Multi-Channel Monitoring (MCM), a software-based IP end-to-end monitoring, deep probing, logging, and real time visualization solution that monitors every type of signal from live production through OTT delivery and supports hundreds of sources including all the latest formats and transport methods.

The next and newest layer of the RMP is the MCS. The MCS allows all the raw data to be aggregated and correlated using the power of the cloud and machine learning, leveraging TAG data and metrics to create actionable insights. Using an open-source paradigm, the MCS serves as an aggregation engine capable of exposing the data collected by the MCM to standard third party analytic and visualization applications such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana and Prometheus to analyze and visualize data. For the first time, media companies can measure internet networks and CDN performance across all signals and know where to shift workloads for optimum performance. It identifies cyclical errors within the log file noise for faster root cause analysis and recovery from intermittent issues.

By aggregating data across multiple customers’ CDNs and internet networks, TAG provides realtime CDN and network metrics to its customers, helping them steer around outages and congestion.

Making accurate data-driven information accessible provides the open-source tools broadcasters need to extract accurate information and use it to achieve better performance and truly improve both Quality of Service and Quality of Experience so their customers can deliver an exceptional viewer experience that can be validated and measured.

  • Understanding OTT: The Basics
The move to OTT from legacy is an evolution and understanding the complexity of OTT technology is not always an easy task. This is a technical guide to understanding the basics of OTT technology: Learn more about OTT as a distribution method, OTT Reception, wrappers and protocols, packaging, adaptive bitrates, the role of CDNs and much more. For a quick preparation to any OTT discussion, check out the glossary of commonly used terms in OTT.
  • The Full Guide to IP Monitoring
The shift from SDI to IP has seen the industry move away from using oscilloscopes, waveform monitors and vectorscopes to monitor television signals. This newfound freedom for hardware, however presents its own set of challenges when it comes to monitoring more signals than ever, with OTT platforms having to deliver multiple formats to different devices, screen sizes and resolutions. This white paper breaks down these new challenges and outlines best practices for IP monitoring in live production, playout and OTT.
  • Guide- OTT Quality of Service Monitoring with Zer0 Compromise
To maintain high quality of experience for their customers, operators need a way to monitor hundreds—sometimes thousands—of channels without compromising real-time error detection. In most cases, the immense scale of their service offerings makes continual visual monitoring of all streams impossible. Fortunately, as operational workflows across the media industry have evolved to look more like true IP or IT workflows, it has become evident that the presence of errors across the delivery chain can be determined with sophisticated software solutions that minimize the need for human intervention. Learn how you can monitor all your content with 0.3 of the resources, while making zero compromises on quality.
  • Guide: Optimizing Playout in IP-Based Workflows
We’ve worked with quite a few customers who are ready to shift to software running on generic IT-based solutions. But we found that many of them just weren’t sure how best to implement and optimize these solutions to support live playout operations. If you’re in the same situation, you might like our newest report: “Optimizing Playout in IP-Based Workflows.” All four primary video applications — live production, playout, distribution, and OTT — can benefit from software-based IP multiviewing, monitoring, and probing running on COTS software. Looking specifically at IP-based playout operations, the report covers topics including: · Essential format support and how it brings flexibility to playout operations · Strategies for establishing effective probing for signals passing through playout · Critical requirements for ensuring interoperability and simplifying management · Keys to reducing the complexity of playout · Scaling infrastructure to match evolving processing requirements
  • Achieving Low Latency in 100% Software IP for Live Production
We’ve worked with many broadcasters facing this challenge, and most are surprised when they learn that today and going forward, the only way to realize the full promise of SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based live production workflows is to deploy a 100% software solution on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. Recent innovations have overcome common challenges to efficient low-latency IP-based workflows, and we’ve explained both these challenges and their solutions in our new report. Get insights into the technologies and solutions that are enabling broadcasters and production facilities to take full advantage of IP-based workflows for live applications.
